Wilmar Taal has a master’s degree in cultural studies and is specialized in the fringe subjects of western culture like conspiracy theories, falsification of history, occult sciences, modern sagas and pseudo-science.

Wilmar Taal publishes frequently on pseudo-science in the magazine Skepter of the Dutch Skeptics Foundation. He also works free-lance for other publications. In 2014 he published his first book Wie Nunspeet zegt, zegt Van Vloten. De Sage van het Ronde Huis (only in Dutch), which was the upbeat to his second book The Silent Listener. The Life and Works of J.H.W. Eldermans, published through Troy Books in 2018. In 2019 his new book The Gnome Manuscript part one: Origins, habits and culture will see the light of day. This book will be followed by two more parts, which all make one large work in total. In between Wilmar is working hard on his next volume Traveller in the Frame of a Strange Painting. The occult life of Bob Laurentius Richel. 

Wilmar Taal is a contributing member of Stichting Skepsis (the Dutch skeptics foundation) and a member of the Koninklijk Nederlands Historisch Genootschap (Royal Dutch Historic Society).

Wilmar Taal lives in Koog aan de Zaan with his wife, two children and one cat.
